cat update

confession 1:  i hate cats.

confession 2: i hate it when people post pictures of cats on their blogs.

confession 3:  i was a little sad to see this guy go today:

as i said in the last post, this cat thinks that we’re his family.   he’s been outside our house for 4 days and whenever we leave (on foot), he follows.  when we return home he comes running to greet us and then tries to squeeze past the open door into what he’s positive must be his house.  we haven’t given him food, water, or shelter, and yet he lies about letting the kids yammer on at him and build him piles of “cat nip” (which is really just leaves they’ve collected from underneath the trees).

this afternoon we took him for a little van ride (which you can see from the picture– he HATED!) down to the animal shelter where the kids had a chance to say goodbye to him.  i didn’t really like doing it.  the kids love him and he’s not a bad cat, he’s just not our cat.    so hopefully the real owners will be looking for their pet and will find him and he’ll only have to endure one more vehicle transport before his life is back to whatever normal for a cat is.

as for us, we’ll return to our “normal” without a cat welcoming us home or calling us outside with his incessant meows.   so for those of you who were asking about the cat– there’s your update!

the cat came back, the very next day another reason to love the internet
